MY BACKGROUND
EDUCATION
BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences

I graduated with a first-class BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences and was recognised as the top student of my cohort. My studies included key modules such as Pharmacology and Toxicology, Evolution of Health and Disease, and Radiation in Medicine.

My research project assessed whether an infographic about the oral contraceptive pill and its potential links to cancer could improve public knowledge and attitudes, potentially reducing discontinuation rates of the pill. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge but no change in attitudes, indicating that knowledge alone is unlikely to reduce discontinuation rates.

Another project I conducted researched the evolutionary origins of SARS-CoV-2 and explored strategies to prevent future pandemics. My research emphasised the importance of continuous genetic surveillance and minimising unnecessary contact with animals to reduce zoonotic transmission risks.
RELEVANT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
QC LABORATORY ANALYST
HALEON

In this position I managed the day-to-day challenges and workflow in the Chemistry Finished Products Laboratory, ensuring all work followed good manufacturing practice (GMP). This involved testing large quantities of finished product samples, conducting laboratory health and safety checks, calibrating equipment, managing stock control and communicating with stakeholders. My training also developed my understanding of good laboratory practice (GLP) and good clinical practice (GCP).
RESEARCH ASSISTANT
OIL LOSS MANAGEMENT

I also completed a placement with an oil remediation company. In this position I executed site surveys to determine the oil contamination of sites by collecting air, water and soil samples. I also collected and handled data to write scientific reports, updated the Air Quality Survey training manual and calibrated equipment.
LEAD OPERATOR
FOUR SEASONS HOTEL

I independently manage multiple operations that would typically require a team, including the café, pool bar, and Christmas shop. This role demands exceptional organisational skills and the ability to seamlessly juggle various responsibilities, including hosting, serving, stewarding and bartending. This demonstrates my capacity to work independently and efficiently under pressure, whilst maintaining the highest standards of hospitality.
